Entertainment today announced that Daniel Craig will once again return
as the legendary British secret agent in the 24th James Bond film and
Sam Mendes will also return to direct the screenplay written by John
Logan. The film is set for release in the UK on October 23, 2015 and in
the US on November 6, 2015.
SKYFALL the 23rd James Bond film, took in $1.1 billion worldwide and set
a new mark as the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK; it was
the best-selling Bond film on DVD/Blu-ray and was the most critically
acclaimed film in the history of the longest-running film franchise.
Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, "Following the
extraordinary success of SKYFALL, we"re really excited to be working
once again with Daniel Craig, Sam Mendes and John Logan."
"I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my
theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to
direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again,
and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli
for a second time," said Mendes.
Barber added, "We are thrilled to reunite the extraordinary talents of

Daniel Craig will once again return
During late 2015 it was reported that British director Guy Ritchie has emerged as a key front-runner to direct this movie after directing The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) released in the same year as and just prior to Spectre (2015). The original The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964) television series was partially created by James Bond creator Ian Fleming. An unnamed source said: "Guy has had a run of box office successes but it was The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) that really caught the Bond producers' eye.The film had many of the elements associated with 007. Guy created a world of espionage and action with a bit of comedy. He's the front-runner for the next Bond movie - for now." Reportedly, the Bond producers are said to be chasing Ritchie who is a friend of series star Daniel Craig to be the director. After Spectre (2015) it is anticipated director Sam Mendes will withdraw from directing Bond movies and it is anticipated that acclaimed director Christopher Nolan may take over the reins and direct Bond 25 and more to follow.
This film is expected to be released in 2017 about two years after Spectre (2015).
Financing and distribution arrangements for this picture and Spectre (2015) have been frequently being reported together suggesting that development of these two Bond films are being set up for a two-year cycle.
This film would be Daniel Craig's fifth and possibly final appearance as James Bond.
If this film is to be released in 2017, the movie will also be Craig's eleventh year as James Bond, with about eleven years passing since Casino Royale (2006).
This will by tenure and film count make Craig the second longest running actor playing James Bond since Sir Roger Moore's era between the early 1970s to the mid 1980s, which ran for about a dozen years, between Live and Let Die (1973) and A View to a Kill (1985).
If this Bond film utilizes an original Ian Fleming story title, there now remains only four unused original Fleming titles that could possibly be used as a title for this film.
These are "The Property of a Lady", "The Hildebrand Rarity", "Risico" and "007 in New York" (aka "Agent 007 in New York").
Reportedly, this Bond film and Spectre (2015) will apparently not be based on any original Ian Fleming James Bond story.
Spectre (2015) screenwriter John Logan was once reportedly commissioned to write scripts for this movie as well as Bond 25 at the same time but this is apparently not the case.
According to Daniel Craig, there was an idea at the studio of filming two consecutive Bond pictures back-to-back to which Craig apparently baulked at the idea due to their enormity.
The James Bond Wikia website states: "A popular news story, started by the blog Deadline, reports the Skyfall (2012) writer John Logan has been commissioned by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to pen Spectre (2015) and Bond 25 as a two-parter.
Months later, this rumor was repudiated but no official announcement either way has been made.
Logan did pen the script for Spectre (2015) and may be considered a front-runner for hemming the Bond 25 script".
This would be the fifth James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig as James Bond as long as Craig does not withdraw from the role.
25th James Bond movie in the EON Productions official series and the 27th theatrically released James Bond film overall if one includes the non-series spoof Casino Royale (1967) and the unofficial franchise film Never Say Never Again (1983).
And it's the 28th James Bond film if the original tele-movie Climax!: Casino Royale (1954) is included.
There are rumors that this will be Daniel Craig's final film playing James Bond.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have stated they feel reasonably confidant that Daniel Craig will return for Bond 25.
There was a rumor stating that the next Bond film will star actor Idris Elba as James Bond - Agent 007.
If Elba is cast, he would be the first black actor to play Bond.
Elba later denied the rumor to be true and has said that he does not want to do the character and does not wish to be remembered as the "Black Bond".
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer produce the James Bond movies but do not generally theatrically release them.
The agreement between MGM and Sony expires with Spectre (2015).
Originally it was a two picture deal with Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008) for Sony to distribute which then got renewed for two more films of which Skyfall (2012) was the first.
At the time of the theatrical release of Spectre (2015), MGM was in discussions with three studios which are believed to be Sony, Paramount and Warner Bros.
Reportedly, it has been stated that MGM is looking for a more lucrative deal and is looking to drive a hard bargain.
Of Daniel Craig returning to play James Bond in this film, series producer Barbara Broccoli in an interview with Swiss news-magazine 20 Minuten during late 2015, Broccoli said [in translations]: "I hope we can continue with Daniel [Craig].
I love him, obviously not just me but also the audience.
I will try my best to keep him on" and "Now everyone is asking, 'How will it go for 007?' I hope it continues with [Daniel] Craig.
I think he's great, and obviously not just me, but also the audience.
I will do everything (to make sure) that he stays."
About appearing in Bond 25, in an interview with UK's The Sun newspaper, James Bond star actor Daniel Craig said that he's not bound by any sort of contract: "There is no contract.
It's up to me.
I have the right to change my mind any time I want to."
It has been touted that Daniel Craig will not play James Bond in this film the 25th in the series.
Rumored and considered replacement actors have been Harry Lloyd, Idris Elba, Aidan Turner, Henry Cavill, Jamie Dornan, Orlando Bloom, Hugh Jackman, Charlie Hunnam, Matthew Goode, Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, Jack Davenport, David Beckham, and bookies front-runners, Tom Hardy and Damian Lewis.
Development of this picture has been reported to begin in Spring 2016 in the Northern Hemisphere which will be the season of Autumn 2016 in the Southern Hemisphere.

With development of this movie reported to going to start in 2016, the film, the 25th Bond movie in the official series, is estimated to be released in either late 2017 or late 2018.
The controversial interview with Daniel Craig with Time Out published on 7th October 2015 reports Craig said making another James Bond film after Spectre (2015): Can you imagine doing another Bond movie? ".

On making this movie, Daniel Craig has said to the Hollywood Reporter, in an article published on 5th November 2015: "Maybe I'll make another one, I don't know."
It is a possibility that director Sam Mendes could return to direct this film.
Mendes said after Skyfall (2012) he wasn't going to direct another Bond movie and ended up directing Spectre (2015).
Mendes has indicated that he will wait six months after Spectre (2015)'s debut theatrical season and make a decision then.

The articles runs with the headline "Is Judi Dench to prove You Only Live Twice as she returns to James Bond?" and states: "But now the rumor is she will return in a flashback".
Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015) director Sam Mendes is apparently not returning for Bond 25 and is reported to have said: "Her coming back will be someone else's decision".

Speculation of the plot for this movie as been suggested by James Bond website Wikipedia "At the end of SPECTRE, instead of killing his former foster brother and nemesis Blofeld, Bond leaves him to be arrested and goes off with Madeleine Swann.
Some have speculated that this opens up to the idea that Blofeld will return after escaping prison and murder Mr White's daughter Madeleine Swann at the start of the film after she has married James Bond.
Bond would perhaps want to get revenge and go after Blofeld as per the ending of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) and the Vesper revenge orientated Quantum of Solace (2008); the original script focus of Diamonds Are Forever (1971), which followed On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), was revenge against Blofeld for the death of his wife in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969).
As the arch-villain character or Ernst Stavro Blofeld was not killed at the end of Spectre (2015) it has left the door open for the character and SPECTRE to return in Bond 25.
